If you have a large lawn, garden, or property, it can be tough to maintain it properly, especially if you treat it several times a year with herbicides and pesticides to prevent insects from damaging the grass and plants. One way to make the task easier is by using an ATV boom sprayer. As long as you already own an ATV, you can quickly and simply treat your property by installing this handy tool on the back of your four-wheeler.

Farmers and homeowners have been using ATV sprayers for years. They are particularly helpful if your property is large and a backpack sprayer is too time consuming to use. With so many options available, it can be tough to choose the best product. Check out our guide below for the top ATV sprayers currently available.

Precision Products TCS15 Spot Sprayer

Designed for larger jobs, this 25-gallon sprayer delivers up to 60 PSI, sprays up to 1.8 gallons a minute, and connects to the 12-volt battery.

This spot sprayer has an eight-gallon tank and sprays 12 feet vertically and 20 feet horizontally. It features chemical-resistant components and is designed for use with most pesticides.

This tow-behind sprayer can be used on an ATV or tractor. It has a 31-gallon tank and commercial-grade pump to cover large areas.

Our reviews are driven by a combination of hands-on testing, expert input, “wisdom of the crowd” assessments from actual buyers, and our own expertise. We always aim to offer genuine, accurate guides to help you find the best picks.

This is the more common type of ATV sprayer. You mount it directly on the back of your ATV. Rear-mounted sprayers are very popular and are more cost-effective compared to tow-behind sprayers. Many manufacturers ship these sprayers fully assembled, which makes them easy to install. However, they can be a little top-heavy, particularly if they have a larger-capacity tank.

If you have a little more money to spend and want an ATV boom sprayer with a larger tank, a tow-behind sprayer may be a good option. They usually come on carts with wheels and use a hitch to attach to your ATV, UTV, or tractor. The biggest downside is that they are more expensive than rear-mounted sprayers.

Precision Products is under the Gleason Group and manufactures heavy-duty lawn and garden equipment. Based in Lincoln, Ill., Precision makes everything from trailer carts to lawn spreaders, aerators, dethatchers, and boom sprayers, such as the Precision Products TCS15 Spot Sprayer.

NorthStar is owned by the Australian company Clayton Engineering, which has been in business for over 45 years. NorthStar produces durable sprayers and pumps and consists of a team of engineers in Australia and Faribault, Minn. One top product is the NorthStar High-Pressure ATV Spot Sprayer.

Ralph E. Chapin of Oakfield, N.Y., started making compressed air sprayers and hand sprayers in 1903. Every one of the company's products must pass strict quality-control standards before it's sold to consumers. One top product is the Chapin International 15-Gallon Spot Sprayer.

Based in Paynesville, Minn., Master Manufacturing has been creating spot and broadcast sprayers for more than 15 years. The company produces several niche sprayers and accessories as well. Check out the Master Manufacturing 15 Gallon ATV Spot Sprayer.

ATV boom sprayers have tanks that typically range from 15 gallons to 25 gallons, but you can also find options with less or greater capacity. Bigger jobs and bigger plots of land will require larger-capacity tanks; otherwise, you'll be constantly returning to home base to refill the tank, which can be inconvenient.

Without a pump, your ATV sprayer will not work. It controls the flow and output of the liquid in the tank through the spray gun. Good-quality pumps are long-lasting and can hold up to harsh chemicals that can break down a product's components. Premium pumps are designed with properties that protect against corrosion.

Most ATV boom sprayer tanks have drainage features. This allows you to empty the tank, clean it, and maintain it before using it again and adding either additional or different chemicals. Sloped tanks are a little better because they drain chemicals a little easier, which is more convenient.

The Precision Products TCS25 Spot Sprayer is designed for larger spraying jobs. It mounts on an ATV's rear basket as well as on other vehicles. Simply connect it to the 12-volt battery, fill the tank, and use the spray wand with thumb control. The sprayer comes with a 12-inch hose, delivers up to 60 PSI, and sprays as much as 1.8 gallons a minute. It's fully assembled out of the box and is backed by a 90-day limited warranty. The sprayer is accurate and has a drain plug, which makes clean-up easier. Overall, it's well built, solidly constructed of tough plastic, and is easy to use. It's a great option if you have a lot of ground to cover and want to do it quickly.

Unfortunately, you have to tighten all the connections before use so it works properly. Also, the nozzle may be a hassle to adjust.

The Ironton ATV Spot Sprayer is great for spot spraying. It has an eight-gallon tank, one GPM Ironton pump, and chemical-resistant Santoprene and Viton components. The tank is UV-resistant and tolerates nearly all types of pesticides. It's simple to monitor fluid levels as well as drain the tank after use. The nozzle has stream and cone modes, and the stream sprays a distance of 12 feet vertically and 20 feet horizontally. The 3/8-inch by 11-foot clear hose is made of durable PVC and braided synthetic cord. Out of the box you also get battery clips and a convenient remote switch, so you can operate the sprayer without leaving the seat of your ATV. It works very well, and the pump provides plenty of force to spray your property.

One downside is that you may need some extra straps to keep it more securely on your ATV. Also, you can't adjust the speed of the spray.

The NorthStar Tow-Behind Trailer Boom Broadcast and Spot Sprayer is designed to be towed behind an ATV or tractor. It covers large areas, including lawns, fields, and fence lines. It has a commercial-grade pump that can withstand corrosive chemicals. The manufacturer boasts that the pump also lasts five times longer than rival brands. The steel cart can be used on rough terrain, while the tow bar, boom arms, and axle and wheels are designed to be retracted and/or removed for easy storage. Also, the 7-1/2-inch lid makes the 31-gallon tank easy to fill, and the bottom drain makes it easy to empty.

Unfortunately, the box may be damaged during shipping, which in turn may damage some of the components. The manual could also be a little more informative.

The Chapin International 15-Gallon Spot Sprayer easily mounts onto an ATV, UTV, or lawn tractor. It can be used with fertilizers, weed killers, and pesticides. The spray wand is 18-inches long, and the adjustable nozzle emits either a mist or a coarse stream for more targeted applications. It has a max vertical spray of 30 feet and a horizontal spray of 18 feet. The tank has a wide-mouth opening to minimize spills and for easier cleanup, while the shut-off assembly can be disassembled for maintenance purposes. The tank is translucent, so you can monitor fluid levels, and it has a drain plug for added convenience.

It's fully assembled upon delivery, is simple to use, and works well on large areas of a property. However, there have been some complaints that some of the connections require tightening, and the drain plug may leak.

The Master Manufacturing 15 Gallon ATV Broadcast & Spot Sprayer can treat your lawn, field, and other areas on your property. One of the best features is the boom brackets, which can be adjusted to your desired spray height. The mounting straps and quick-attach boom are compatible with most ATVs. The steel broadcast boom covers a seven-foot area, while the adjustable spray gun reaches 25-feet vertically and 30-feet horizontally. This sprayer comes with a pump, pressure gauge, pressure regulator, wire harness, lid with tether, and gun clips. The translucent polyethylene tank can tolerate herbicides and pesticides and can also be used to disinfect and sanitize surface areas. It's easy to assemble and use and is a great value for the price.

However, like many other brands, you need to tighten the connections before use. The spray wand is also not the best quality.

If you have a smaller lawn or plot of land that you need to treat, the Master Manufacturing 9-gallon Spot Sprayer is a good option for applying herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, disinfectants, etc. Great for ATVs, UTVs, and golf carts, the product has a translucent and RV-resistant polyethylene tank and an Everflo 1.0GPM 12V Diaphragm Pump. The spray gun, which emits both a mist and a stream, has a 15-foot rubber hose and can reach 18 feet vertically and 20 feet horizontally. The drain port is easy to access, while the tank walls are simple to grip. The sprayer also comes with a strap to secure it to the ATV. Overall, it's easy to install and use.

However, there have been some complaints that the hand sprayer leaks. Also, the coil hose is not the best quality.

The NorthStar High-Pressure ATV Spot Sprayer is an excellent option if you use Roundup-related herbicides. It provides up to 200 PSI of pressure and delivers 2.0 GPM. The commercial-grade pump is durable, easy to prime, and designed to withstand corrosive chemicals. The tank is made of UV-resistant material to reduce sun damage and fading. This product's spray gun has three different modes: atomized mist, cone, and stream and are attached to a 35-foot high-pressure hose for added reach. The sprayer also comes with a liquid-filled pressure gauge and bypass valves that ensure the chemicals are evenly dispersed. Tie-down straps are included to secure the sprayer to the ATV.

Users report that it is very well made and provides consistent performance without the need for constant adjustments. The biggest complaint about this product is that the seals tend to leak.

The Craftsman 25-Gallon Tow Sprayer is made in America and features all-terrain pneumatic tires, a no-clog spray nozzle, a versatile hand wand to access hard-to-reach places, and a universal-fit hitch to attach to your ATV or tractor. The dual-arm boom has rear jets that spray as far out as six feet, while the 15-foot hose can spray up to 25-feet away. You can adjust the tip to spray a steady stream or a fine mist. The tank provides a pressure up to 35 PSI and delivers up to one-gallon per minute during application.

The wiring harness is quick and easy to connect or disconnect from the battery. One downside with this product is that it may be missing some parts upon delivery.

Clean the boom sprayer every time you use it. Run warm water and a tiny bit of dishwashing soap through it, and then cycle clean water through it.

Mix water with white vinegar or use three parts baking soda and one part water and rub it on the plastic with a sponge or cloth. Rinse the plastic with water.

Empty the tank and add automotive antifreeze. Turn the boom sections off, but leave the master spray switch and pump on. Run the antifreeze through the system.

Our pick for the best ATV boom sprayer is the Precision Products TCS15 Spot Sprayer. It does a great job of tackling large areas and can spray up to 1.8 gallons per minute. Plus, it's well built and easy to use. For a more budget-friendly option, consider the Ironton ATV Spot Sprayer.
